FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - CVS AND COVER LETTER WRITTING
 
1. When can I expect a first draft of my CV of letter? 

First drafts are provided within five working days of receiving full payment and all the necessary information. Drafts will be emailed to you in Microsoft Word 2000 for your review and comments, unless specified otherwise.

2. Do you provide express services? 

Presently, express services are on hold, but in many instances, we are still able to assist. Please contact us and ask to speak to Tracey Whitmore, who will advise whether we have the capacity to help. We do charge a premium for this service - an additional 20% for three day, 40% for next-day and 60% for same day.

3. What guarantees do you provide? 

We guarantee to produce a CV that you will be proud of and one that best represents your skills and experience. We will continue to work on your CV until you are 100% happy; you have 14 days after receipt of the first draft to make as many changes as are necessary.

After sign off, should you not be receiving the kind of responses you would expect from your CV or cover letter, we ask that you come back to us and we will be happy to review your documents fee of charge.

4. What do I do if my computer crashes in the middle of completing the online questionnaire or if I wish to complete at a later stage? 

You will need to proceed to My Order where you will be asked to input your Order Number, which begins with TWI, and the email address provided when you first placed your order.

If you are concerned that your computer may crash again or should you wish to complete the form at your leisure, it is recommended that you download the form, which is provided in Microsoft Word format.

Note: the online form cannot be saved.

5. How do you gather information? 

We gather information in three ways. We have a standard questionnaire that we ask you to complete; we review your existing CV (if appropriate); we arrange for an in-depth consultation with the person writing your CV of up to an hour (questions can be raised via email if preferred).

If you have an existing CV, it is necessary to complete the questionnaire(s) but we ask that you provide us with only information not already provided in your CV.
If you detest forms, we can still oblige and are happy to gather the information over the phone for an additional fee of 20%.

6. What is the process? 

If you have access to the Internet:

  • Place your order online by going through to our Ordering page
  • Once you have selected the payment method (phone/online), you are then presented with our standard questionnaire, which can be completed online or downloaded.
  • If you have an existing CV, email it to us at, together with your reference number to: orders@impressivecvs.co.uk. We require that you complete our questionnaire but supply us with only the information not already provided in your CV.
  • Once your order has been received, you will receive email confirmation.
  • Your assigned consultant will contact you within 24 hours of placing your order and receipt of full payment, to arrange a convenient time for a consultation. Should you require questions to be raised via email, you will emailed within two to three days with a list of questions requiring your immediate attention.
  • Five days after placing your order, you will receive a first draft of your CV, which will be emailed to you for review and comments.
  • You have 14 days in which to make changes to your CV from the day your first draft was sent out. We endeavour to provide you with revised drafts within 24 hours of receiving change requests.
  • Once you are happy with your CV, we will email you a final version of your document(s) in Microsoft Word 2000 for your records. If you have ordered any CDs, floppy discs or hard copies, these will be dispatched within 24 hours of your order being finalised.

  • We can email, post or fax you our standard questionnaire. Please contact our offices during 9am and 5pm to arrange for the form to be sent to you.

7. Do your consultants specialise in any particular areas? 

Due to the number of industries/sectors, it would be impossible for us to have consultants in each of these areas. We do, however, have consultants who specialise in the more technical areas, such as IT, Telecoms and Engineering.
Note: We DO NOT cover Medical or Academic CVs due to their very specialist nature but would be happy to recommend a partner company.

8. Tell us about the consultant who will be writing our CV? 

All our consultants come from a Recruitment, Search, Human Resources, Career Guidance background or similar. Our consultants are experienced at working across a variety of sectors and industries and are capable of communicating effectively with people at all levels. They specialise in CV writing and are there to add value to the information you provide.

9. I am looking to make a career change, can you help? 

Yes, we have a lot of experience in this area. In most cases, we would recommend producing what we call a Functional CV, which is a skills-led approach. Rather than produce your standard chronological CV, we produce a CV that focuses on your transferable skills. We identify which skills are most appropriate to your target job and provide details of your achievements or responsibilities in each of those areas. Very little emphasis is placed on your career history. When completing our standard questionnaire, there is a section that focuses specifically on people looking to change career, and we ask you to identify your most transferable skills relative to your target job. If you have an existing CV, it would be worth providing this as well.

10. There are so many firms out there, why should I use you? 

Excellent question. First, all our consultants are highly experienced CV writers with backgrounds in Recruitment, Search, Human Resources or similar. They constantly stay up-to-date with trends in the market and they know what works and what does not. Second, we are not a secretarial service. We are not there just to repeat/rehash the information you provide us with, but rather, we provide you with access to professionals who are there to add value and prepare you a CV that will win interviews. Third, we are dedicated to providing a customer service second to none and provide you with the guarantee that we will continue to work on your CV until your are 100% happy. Once we have provided you with a first draft, you have 14 days in which to make as many changes as are necessary. Finally, we do have a strong track record of winning interviews for customers and in assisting them to win their dream job. Please refer to our testimonial page to meet many of our happy customers.

11. What results have you had for customers? 

This is a difficult one to quantify. What we can say is that 90% of customers accept the first draft of their CV, the remaining 10% generally require some minor adjustments. We do have a strong track record of winning interviews for customers and helping them secure their dream job. We suggest that you view our testimonial page, which is updated on a monthly basis.

We do provide the guarantee that we will continue to work on your CV until you are totally happy - you have 14 days in which to make as many changes as are necessary. If, for any reason, you are not receiving the type of response you would expect from your CV, by all means please do come back to us and we will be happy to review your documents free of charge.

12. Can we meet with a consultant? 

Impressive CVs runs a virtual operation and has consultants based across the UK. There is nothing we feel that we cannot accomplish over the phone or via email, and this also allows us to keep our prices competitive.

13. Do you provide CV samples / examples? 

As we prepare a CV that will best present your skills and experience, CVs are tailor-made for each individual customer and no two CVs will be alike. It is for this reason that we do not provide examples of CVs.

Should you order our CV Templates, included in the package is a variety of CV examples for both Starter Level and Professional/Executive levels.
